This decorative barrel depicts traditional Japanese good luck charms.
The Chinese character for "Kotobuki" (longevity), which is used in Japan for celebrations that occur only once in a lifetime, is written in large red letters in the center.
At the top, pine trees, bamboo, and plum blossoms are depicted. The pine tree, which remains green even in bitterly cold weather, the bamboo, which grows supple, and the plum tree, which blooms and smells ahead of the other 100 flowers.
