This decorative barrel depicts traditional Japanese good luck charms.
The Chinese character for "Kotobuki" (longevity), which is used in Japan for celebrations that occur only once in a lifetime, is written in large red letters in the center.
At the top, pine trees, bamboo, and plum blossoms are depicted. The pine tree, which remains green even in bitterly cold weather, the bamboo, which grows supple, and the plum tree, which blooms and smells ahead of the other 100 flowers. In Japan, the pine tree, bamboo, and plum trees are considered symbols of congratulations.
In the background are a magnificent crane and turtle.
In Japan, cranes are said to live for a thousand years and turtles for ten thousand years, and cranes and turtles are considered to be auspicious creatures symbolizing longevity.
The core material of the decorative barrel is styrofoam, so it cannot be filled with alcohol or opened by Kagami-biraki.
